I stood there staring at myself in the dressing room mirror. The jeans I was trying on looked amazing! I was excited to finally find the perfect pair after shopping for hours. After I had spent hours searching countless stores and browsed the endless clothing racks I had finally found them: the hip-hugging jeans that not only made my butt look great but were actually long enough!
That's right. I am one of those few supposedly lucky women to be 'blessed' with height and those long legs most women long for. However, I am here to tell you that being tall is not as great as people may believe it is. In elementary school I was the tall girl in the back row of class pictures, the girl who towered over the boys, the girl who always stood out.
Now that I have reached my adult height, I still wish I was shorter. Just a few inches. It is ridiculously hard to find pants that are long enough and don't make me look like a hippie from the 70's. Pants aren't the only challenge, shopping for any kind of clothing is difficult. Dresses and skirts become too short. Shirts aren't long enough. I usually have to settle for a bigger size but with the little bit of added length comes the bagginess of a too-large shirt. Heels are a completely different issue! Being tall already, why in the world would I want to add inches?! But I do love heels. But I don't particularly like the way they make me tower over everyone. Guys don't necessarily want to date a girl who is taller than them, which makes dating difficult as well. Gah! Everything is made complicated by being so tall!
Of course, people are always jealous of my height. They just don't understand why I don't like it. I mean who wouldn't love being tall when you can reach things on the top shelf, right? Oh, and I could be a model! I don't know how many times I have heard that one. Very few girls achieve model status and I just don't think that is in my future. Believe me, if I could give you a few of my inches, I would.
Growing up, people would always say to wait until I got older and then I would embrace my height and love it. Well I guess I am still waiting for that to happen.

Help, Please :)
Okay everyone. I want some feedback about an idea. Because my major is now public relations, that means I am in for a lot of writing. So. My dad suggested I create a new blog to write in regularly about 'important' things. Not that this blog isn't important, it's just a little more personal and less formal. I want to create something that I can display my work in, sort of like an online portfolio. And by the time I graduate, I will have multiple years worth of writing that I can use when trying to get a job. Plus, I will be continually improving my writing skills. I will definitely keep writing in this blog as a fun project and to let people know what I've been up to. But I need help about what to put in this new and 'important' blog. Any suggestions? What would be interesting to readers? Any thoughts?

The Simplicity of Black and White
I am sure I have mentioned before, my not-so-secret obsession with interior design. So I was surfing the web looking at pictures and here are some with a common theme. Black and white is not as boring as one might think.
I love this chandelier!
Just look at those stairs!
If you aren't a big fan of black and white, add an accent color!
This reminds me of something off of Star Trek.
Bare walls.
I'm really liking the stack of drawers in the corner!
I can see this kitchen being in a country home.
I wonder if this couch would be hard to keep white?
Black and white bedroom.
Ceiling art? I haven't decided if I like this room or not.
Too much black for me.
Um... Just ignore the man standing awkwardly in the background.
Simple bedroom.
I like the idea of a curved bar.
What do you think of using black and white as a decorating scheme? What are the goods and the bads? The ideas you like and the ones you don't? Comment and let me know!

The ABC Guide to Surving USU
A-Always wear a coat! Coats are a must for the Logan sub-arctic temperatures. This is global warming at its best!
B-Basketball at the spectrum. You will just have to experience yourself.
C-Classes. Just go. It will (usually) be worth it in the end.
D-Dating. Before you know it, everyone will be engaged.
E-Exercise. Don't forget to stay fit. And you can always check out the eye candy while you're at the gym!
F-Fluffy white stuff. Don't be surprised when it is April and the grass is white instead of green.
G-Graduation. Time flies by faster than you think. I can't believe how fast it has gone.
H-Homesickness. It's a very common disease, and everyone gets it at one time or another.
I-Ice Cream. Okay, three words: Aggie Ice Cream. Get some!
J-Journal. Write everything down somewhere.
K-Keys. You will realize the importance of checking to make sure you have keys BEFORE you leave after you get locked out once or twice.
L-Library. The library is actually a cool place to be, believe it or not. It's a great place to sleep, catch up with friends, eat, or maybe even get some studying done!
M-Marketplace Food Poisoning. It really does exist. Just letting you know.
N-Needle. I helps to be able to use a needle and thread. It takes too long to wait for your mom to sew things for you.
O-Old Main Hill. You have to go down that hill on something. At least once. There are multiple options: sleds, mattresses, shopping carts, longboards, pretty much anything!
P-PDA. Expect to see some things you wished you hadn't.
Q-Quarters. Every penny, nickel, and quarter is important. And so are dimes! Spend money wisely.
R-Roommates are pretty much the best! Take the time to get to know them.
S-Sleep. Just say your good-byes now.
T-True Aggie. Got some chapstick? It's always best to be prepared.
U-Undergraduate Research... If I had a quarter for every time I heard that phrase I would be one rich girl!
V-Variety. There is definitely no lack in variety among individuals. If you want to meet a lot of different people then you will.
W-Walmart Runs. Always better after dark. Go between 11 pm and 1 am for the most enjoyment.
X-X-Boyfriends/Girlfriends. Just know that the most awkward of awkward run-ins with your ex will occur when you least expect it.
Y-Young. Have fun while you're young! Before you get old and boring...
Z-Zombies. Once a semester the Zombies come out to play. People chasing each other with nerf guns is the norm.
B-Basketball at the spectrum. You will just have to experience yourself.
C-Classes. Just go. It will (usually) be worth it in the end.

Looking Forward
There couldn't possibly be a better way to wake up. My morning started with the sun shining in through the narrow slits of the window blinds. Despite going to bed so late, I woke up feeling refreshed and ready to take on a new day filled with lectures and homework.
While sitting in my Social Welfare class and struggling to pay attention to the professor drone on about something or other, I realized something. Something both exciting and daunting. There is less than a month until the completion of my first year at college! That's where the exciting part comes in. However, that means that my life is about to become extremely busy. As if it wasn't busy enough already. For instance, in the next 7 days, I will be working about 40 hours! Add on top of that all my classes and homework. And add on top of all studying for finals. Finals!!! I bet if I looked up 'stress' in a thesaurus that 'finals' would be the very first entry. If not, it should be. How do you get a word added to a thesaurus?
I just need to get through the next couple weeks and I will be home-free (at least for a few months). After finals, I plan on returning to L-Town for about a week. Me and my mom will be tackling a big project. Re-decorating the family room. But I'm excited. Decorating is my kind of my secret obsession. I love browsing home decorating catalogs and googling the recent decorating trends. And living on-campus has really limited my decorating. No paint, no nails, no holes, nothing permanent, and well, you get the idea.
After that, I will be moving into my new apartment with Ashley. And then bring on the life of a boring, old, working adult. It will be my first time working 40 hours (possibly more if I get a second job) a week. So yes, I am slightly nervous about that. But that is what we wish for as a child, isn't it? To be big and do big people things. Well that time is here and I am sort of wishing to go back to childhood.
On a different note. I have decided to change my major, yet again. This time will be the last time (here's to hoping, right?) I am now a JCOM major with an emphasis in Public Relations and a minor in Marketing. Wow! That's a mouthful! And with this new plan, I should graduate in just about two more years! Imagine being graduated at age 20 with a bachelor's degree. That's going to be me! Maybe there is a upside to having such a late birthday.
