Ah, summer.

Summertime is literally my favorite.

There's just something about the sunshine and being outside that makes my heart happy. The days feel so much longer because it is light in the evenings.

I went hiking last weekend. After being sick for a week it felt great to eg outside and do something active.

The tiniest waterfall ever.

And my first summer vacation is this weekend. Hello, Vegas. So stoked to for that. Girls weekend with my mom and sister.

Work is just as busy as ever. I'm just wrapping up a huge video project. I've spent the last month or so filming and editing a series of mini videos to use at the grand opening of our new facility. That's but fun and stressful at the same time.

I've been helping this chica plan her wedding. It's going to be so much fun when she finally gets married and moves to Utah. Long distance friendships are hard.

I promise I'm still alive

I totally suck at blogging lately. But here I am. I'm still alive. It's a crazy phenomenon how you can get so wrapped up in the day-to-day things of life and before you know it, it's months before you get around to doing that thing you'd been meaning to do.

Life has been busy. My job has been incredible. I am so blessed to be able to do something I love and and grateful for all that I've learned already.

One of my closest friend got engaged and as her maid of honor, I have been trying my best to help her plan the wedding with her being in another country. Thank goodness for technology. We have been sending pictures and pins back and forth sharing wedding ideas and talking about what it will be like to live so close.

I was called to be a FHE group leader in my singles ward. I'm not going to lie; this one stresses me out at times.

I've begun to toy with the idea of going back to school. I miss it. My work will even pay for most of it so that's a huge bonus. I'm thinking maybe next spring I'll start a master's program? We'll see.

I don't think I can fully express how thrilled I am that spring has finally arrived! I've missed being outside and I've missed the sunshine. The sun and warm weather are my favorite and I've also found that overall I'm happier during the spring and summer. Life just gets a little bit better. I've also really been excited to get out and play tennis again. Is there anyone in the Salt Lake area who will volunteer to be my tennis buddy??

Well there it is. A quick snapshot of what my life is like right now.

Life is good.

I'm in Mexico... Meet Katelyn!

And so my travels continue! I am on a cruise to Mexico with my family and grandparents.

I want you to all meet my friend Katelyn. She is Canadian which makes her that much more awesome :)

She is new to blogging so be sure to check out her blog too :) Share the blog love.

Hey there Sam's readers , I am Katelyn and I blog over at Katelyn In Pink Sam asked me to write a guest blog while she is enjoying the fun and sun in Mexico !!!! I met Sammy while she was in her first year of college ( I was visiting Utah with her cousin ) and we have been friends ever since

I am 23 and living in Canada in a small farming community called Vegreville ( home of the worlds largest Easter egg ) I work in the health care industry and love it . I also have big dreams of moving to Utah and am in the process of achieving said dream !!! I also am clumsy and a little nerdy , a fan of the out doors and avid reader and hopeless romantic. The last 2 however go together. Do you ever see those movies where there is the girl who spends her whole life reading and loosing herself in these epic tales of romance and beauty and chivalry and of coarse the gorgeous dresses and, in the end she finds her happy ending? This is me minus I am still looking for my prince .

Today's world is pretty similar to the world in the books for us woman , there is a lot of pressure in finding a mate and getting married especially in the lds faith , maybe it's just me but I feel if you aren't married by 21 its almost like swearing , it was same way in some of my favorite books . I think that so often we are focused ( or maybe its just me ) in finding the perfect romance that it becomes a tad depressing when you are like me 23 and not married. But like some of my favorite literary heroines I have discovered that there is more to life then finding my prince charming , there is a whole world out there !!! So my new goal or dream in life is to TRAVEL and visit some of the places my favorite books take place in , see the English country side and travel across Ireland , sail the Nile and drift away on the Mississippi river , to finish my education and live in the moment and someday maybe just maybe my price will come and sweep me of my feet . XOXO Katelyn

Did I also mention I am a super hero ???

The post I didn't want to write

This is the post I have been avoiding. The one I didn't want to write because, sometimes, putting things into words makes it more real.

My life is currently in boxes and I'm not quite sure where anything is. I spent the day packing up the remaining knick-knacks around my room and chatting with roommates. No one wants to acknowledge the looming good-byes; the parting of ways.

I know I am going to leave a part of myself in Logan. This has been my home for the last three years. I have changed so much in that time and formed many friendships. In some ways, those friendships are stronger than any I've had before. There is something about living with someone that forms a special bond. You become accustomed to their quirks and over time you notice that you have even adopted some of their traits. You now use that catchphrase or do something a particular way. That person is someone you will never forget because they have changed you.

I know that I have gone through a deep and thorough change. I am so far from that freshman walking into the dorms for the first time. I have developed new talents and explored new things. I am in a major that I never dreamed of. My life is so different from where I imagined myself being at this point.

There is one thing I won't be leaving behind: memories. That is something I will always have. I know the move to Layton will be a difficult transition for me and that there will be times when I will miss everything and everyone I knew here. But I know I will look back on these years and smile at the times we had a sleepover in an abandoned warehouse or simply the many times we stayed up way too late talking about everything.

Despite all the stress and heartbreak that accompanies the college life, I know that I am leaving a better person than I was when I came.

So as I sit here reflecting on the last few years, I can't help but get a little teary-eyed.

It's been real, Logan. I'll see ya around.

New friends

It's no secret that I am a shy girl sometimes. When I am around people I don't know very well or don't feel comfortable with, I stop talking and take a backseat and just listen to everyone else. I'm good at observing. I was invited to a blogger meetup last night to mingle with bloggers from all over town. And to be honest, I was a little nervous about going. I only knew one person besides my cousin who came with me and I was worried because I didn't know what to expect.

But my worries were silly. From the moment I walked in the door I felt completely comfortable with these girls. A few hours of boy stories, laughs and giggles later, we took this picture and agreed to make this a monthly thing. Which I am so stoked about!

Honey bees and dancing

Holy moly! Can you believe that tomorrow is the first day of March! Seriously, where is time going? The semester is halfway over and graduation is just two months away! .

Today I gave a presentation with these lovely ladies on a PR campaign Haagen-Dazs did to save the honey bees. So of course, we dressed up for the occasion in black and yellow.

Last night Ashley showed me this music video and I think it's the cutest thing ever. It's a fun song and I love the dancing. I'm sure you will love it too.

Back in Logan!

Busy, busy, busy!

I'm back in Logan now and it's great to be back! I've started to settle back in to school life and I'm loving it in a totally nerdy way. My social life is starting to recover and it's great seeing familiar faces again around campus. This is my last year at USU and I'm determined to make it great! I am taking 15 credits in addition to being a teaching assistant for a news writing class. It's definitely more than enough to keep my busy. But I kind of like it. I have come to the realization that this is what I am supposed to be doing right now. I get asked a lot if I am dating anyone and right now, the answer is no. And I'm okay with that. I think that will come with time. So for now, I am just busy with school and work. Oh speaking of work, I got a new job!! I was able to keep the job I had over the summer at Intermountain Homecare and just transferred to Logan when I moved back here. It's not super exciting but I am starting to look for a job for when I graduate. Which is an intimidating thought. I don't feel like I'm ready to tackle the world but I'm excited for the next chapter of my life to start.

It Will All Work Out

Everyone is getting married.

And having babies.

And some are doing the baby thing first.

But then there's me.

Still single.

And doing the college thing.

Sometimes I feel like I am behind.

But I just need to remember,

that everyone grows up differently.

And it's not that I am still a child.

Because I'm not.

I'm an adult with different priorities.

And that's okay.

I don't have to be like everyone else.

I'm doing my own thing at my own pace.

I'm not doing anything wrong.

We just all go in our different directions.

And what I need to keep in mind is this:

There is someone out there just for me.

And I will meet him when it's the right time.

For both of us.

Samantha

Wednesday's Words 3

Today's word: Forgiveness

A few months ago something happened with a friend. I was offended and hurt and she was mad. It was a mess and we just stopped talking. But now, it's time I forgive and move on. Whether that means letting her back in my life, I'm not sure. I don't even know if that something she even wants. But what I do know is this: I'm tired of feeling hurt. I don't like being upset with someone and I think it's starting to have negative effects on my life.

So whether you are trying to forgive someone or just forgive yourself, this post is for you.

What A Great Day!

In one word, today was amazing!

Like seriously you guys, it was awesome. Church was just what I needed. In sacrament there was this quote:

"Be of good cheer. Your future is as bright as your faith." ~Pres. Monson

I have heard that quote before somewhere, but today it really hit me. Because last night I had a mini freak-out about my life. I was applying for internships and realized that I don't have to much applicable experience that would make someone want me as intern. Sure, I have had a job since I was 16, but being a gymnastics coach doesn't mean anything to a PR firm. Needless to say I was a little worried. But at this point there isn't a whole lot I can do. That's what I thought until I went to church this morning. If I start reading my scriptures and praying again that my faith will increase and I know I will be blessed for it.

And if that wasn't enough, Sunday School was just as good. It was about the BOM which made me want to start reading it even more. Then Relief Society was combined with the men and take a guess about what the lesson was about. You guessed it! The BOM! I was so ready to start my new goal by the end of church.

My afternoon was spent with my amazing roommates. Singing, pudding and YouTube. We had a lot of good laughs. Oh, and nail painting may or may not have occurred.

Some boys invited us over to their place for dinner. They cooked us a wonderful meal complete with a pot roast and potatoes. And followed it up with Better Than You-Know-What Cake.

The Spectrum was almost filled to capacity today. There was a fireside that Elder Ballard spoke at. And guess what the main theme was? Joseph Smith. I think someone up above was trying to send me a message today. Message received!

After walking home in the cold tonight, I couldn't wait to put on some comfy sweats and make some hot chocolate.

Good night everyone! And don't forget to smile just because today was a great day!

Sam

Wednesday's Words 1

Welcome to the very first edition of Wednesday's Words!

Every week I will pick a topic or idea and post relevant quotes. My main goal with this is to provoke thought and provide motivation for myself and my readers.

Why Wednesdays? Sometimes we all just need a little pick-me-up to finish out the week. Something to spur our minds forward and wake us up from the monotony of life. And maybe, perhaps bring a smile to your face because you can relate.

(If you ever have any suggestions of something you would like to see on Wednesday's Words just leave it in a comment.)

Today's topic: Friendship

"It is one of the blessings of old friends that you can afford to be stupid with them."
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

"Never shall I forget the days I spent with you. Continue to be my friend, as you will always find me yours."
- Ludwig van Beethoven
